WHAT WE DO

FORGE funders work to support reforms that are grounded in the rights and power of communities and workers, strengthen accountability and address underlying flaws in the financial system.

Shifting the balance of power within the global economy involves collective, intersectional responses that build across constituencies and engage strategic pressure points.

FORGE funders advance this collective agenda through several strategies:

Dynamic learning

FORGE participants understand the value of sharing insights, strategies and knowledge developed with and for the field—including from known and new voices. We identify and scope emerging issues, opportunities and needs in the field. FORGE members engage, share and learn through regular video and in-person exchanges.

Aligned strategies

FORGE members seek greater impact by sharing approaches and aligning funding more strategically. Aligned funding can explore new opportunities and seed efforts that may warrant scaling in the future.

Collaborative funding

FORGE members pool funds to catalyze change at the intersections of the world’s most pressing issues. The Response and Vision Fund was established to allow strategic and agile investments in initiatives that benefit those most impacted by the economic fallout of COVID-19. The fund also advances long term systemic change by supporting and scaling alternative and emerging ideas that can shape a global economy that works for all.

Advocacy

FORGE amplifies equitable and inclusive narratives about the global economy, its impacts and alternatives, elevating grantee demands and proposals. By speaking with one voice, FORGE members seek to influence diverse constituencies, within and beyond philanthropy.
