FORGE Publishes Scoping Projects on Transition Minerals and Agriculture and the Energy Transition
FORGE recently underwent two scoping projects to develop reports on the intersections between transition minerals and agriculture in the context of the energy transition.
The Transition Minerals Field Scan Report and accompanying stakeholder map was developed by our consultant, Waleria Schuele, covering global trends, regional challenges, and funding landscapes.
This report offers a comprehensive overview of global developments in transition minerals mining, with regional insights focused on Southern Africa and the Lithium Triangle in Latin America. It also outlines strategic funding recommendations for FORGE across three key impact areas:
Elevate Vulnerable Groups
Strengthen Field Connections
Equip Rights Defenders
The Agriculture and Energy Transition Scoping Report was developed by our consultants, Molly Anderson and Faris Ahmed.
This report overviews the connections between a just transition, agroecology and food sovereignty, and the impact of the energy transition on farmworkers and smallholder farmers. Key recommendations include that FORGE engage on documentation, communications and awareness raising, as well as providing support for smallholders' and workers rights networks and supporting farmers and farmworkers advocacy efforts.
